Demonic Possession

by Nekrovomit

2022 — Dieng, Wonosobo, Indonesia.

Rising from the abyssic fires of the Far East, Nekrovomit forged their first demo tape “Demonic Possession” in 2021. It’s not just a collection of songs—it’s a ceremonial barrage of seven tracks soaked in evil, nihilism, and raw death energy. The music is old-school, unpolished, feral. And the video? It was summoned to match.

This wasn’t about visuals that accompany music. This was about visuals that possess it.

Role

  • Developed full animation concept, visual script, and thematic direction
  • Created hand-drawn animation sequences & frame distortion effects
  • Composited layers of horror iconography with analog glitch FX
  • Synced all cuts and horror peaks directly to musical breakdowns & blastbeats

Style & Visual Language

  • Aesthetic: animated horror meets analog decay
  • Visual tone: like *Begotten* meets *Junji Ito* meets *old VCR demon ritual tape*
  • Imagery: rotoscoped skeletons vomiting blood, reversed crucifixions, silent screaming faces, insects inside holy books
  • Animation technique: slow-framed, jerky, VHS-flicker loop with scratched celluloid feel
  • Structure: non-linear ritual descent—each scene amplifies visual chaos

Moodboard Influences

  • Begotten (E. Elias Merhige)

  • Junji Ito’s Uzumaki & Tomie

  • Analog horror aesthetics: Local58, The Mandela Catalogue

  • Black metal zine art, demo tape visual filth, hellish xerox textures

Technical Execution

  • Frame-by-frame animation with Procreate + After Effects for compositing
  • VHS overlays & noise injected using analog sim packs
  • Sound-reactive glitch maps tied to kickdrum & vocal peaks
  • No clean layers—only decay, rupture, and gore

“Animation shouldn’t comfort you. It should crawl under your skin, whisper in your ears, and remind you that the screen is a portal—not a wall. With ‘Demonic Possession,’ I animated a nightmare, not a story. It’s a cursed visual meant to be watched at 3am on a dying CRT.”
