Horse Power 13

by Tiger Paw

2017 — Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Tiger Paw is pure retro-fueled rebellion. Their track “Horse Power 13” is a full-throttle anthem to outlaw living, glam bravado, and the raw horsepower of nostalgia.

A crossbreed of Harley-Davidson machismo, 80s arena-rock swagger, and PS1-era VHS chaos, this video is a full-spectrum homage to over-the-top rebellion and style.

Role

  • Assisted in conceptualizing and directing the shoot
  • Led art direction: styling, costume design, and visual tone setting
  • Shot live-action sequences with analog-inspired lenses and vintage film simulation
  • Designed motion graphics & pixel overlays using retro 3D animation
  • Edited video with kinetic cuts, neon wipes, and turbocharged pacing

Visual Style & Influences

  • Aesthetic: 70s biker ad x 80s glam metal MV x 90s tokusatsu VHS
  • Visual influences: Harley-Davidson TVCs (1976–1982)
  • PS1 cutscene graphics & glitch textures
  • Kamen Rider Black RX + Metal Hero series
  • Sega Saturn & early Namco arcade menus
  • Footage stylized with CRT flicker, compression bloom, and turbo-chrome overlays
  • Lighting: harsh key lights + pink-orange sunset hues + neon strips

Execution Details

  • Camera: Sony mirrorless + CRT adapter filter
  • Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro with custom LUTs & retro FX presets
  • Animation: 3D low-poly motorcycle sprites + tokusatsu HUD elements
  • Typography: bold slab fonts with 80s arcade energy
  • Motion pacing: cut-to-beat edits, speed ramping synced to snare hits

Perspective Drawing

  • A pure throwback audio-visual burnout with glam metal attitude

  • Merges art direction, live-action, animation, and editing into a full nostalgia engine

  • Not for brands who want clean—this is for those who want pure aesthetic chaos on steroids

  • You were the glue behind the madness—multidisciplinary execution from vision to final render

“We didn’t want this to be ‘cool.’ We wanted it to be LOUD, STUPID, and UNFORGETTABLE. Like the first time you saw a PS1 loading screen after drinking too much soda. This video is a joyride through three decades of pop culture visual noise—with no brakes and zero apologies.”
